POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Engineer (Packaging) is responsible for developing innovative, cost‑effective, and high‑performance packaging solutions that ensure product protection throughout manufacturing, storage, and distribution. This role involves structural design, material selection, validation testing, and thorough documentation. The Engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support new product introduction (NPI), continuous improvement initiatives, and sustainability efforts, ensuring packaging meets quality, cost, and regulatory requirements. This position will report to Manufacturing Engineering Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Packaging Design & Development

• Create structural packaging designs using CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Artios CAD, or equivalent).
• Design corrugated, carton, foam, molded, plastic, returnable, and custom packaging components.
• Develop specifications, drawings, BOMs, and revision-controlled documentation.
• Optimize packaging for manufacturability, protection, logistics efficiency, and cost.

2. Engineering Analysis

• Evaluate material properties, stacking strength, cushioning requirements, pallet patterns, and environmental conditions.
• Perform packaging risk assessments and FMEA for new designs.
• Use engineering calculations and simulation tools (if applicable) for load, compression, and drop‑related analysis.

3. Testing & Validation

• Develop test plans based on ASTM/ISTA/ISO standards.
• Conduct and document testing (drop, vibration, compression, climatic conditioning).
• Analyze test failures, implement corrective actions, and validate improvements.

4. Project & Cross‑Functional Support

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by providing packaging solutions and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, and Logistics teams.
• Work with suppliers for material evaluation, cost estimation, prototyping, and qualification.

5. Cost Reduction & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to reduce packaging cost without compromising quality or protection.
• Improve pallet density, cube utilization, and standardization across product lines.
• Lead packaging-related Kaizen, lean, or 5S improvements.

6. Sustainability & Compliance

• Recommend eco‑friendly materials, recyclability improvements, and waste reduction initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in compliance with ISO, quality systems, and document control processes.
• Developing Mitigation Plans: Working with other engineers and production teams to implement solutions that prevent future failures or minimize their impact.
• Evaluating Alternative Components: Researching and evaluating potential replacements for obsolete or problematic components, ensuring that they meet the required specifications.
• Managing Change Requests: Reviewing and approving change requests related to power supply designs, ensuring that they are implemented correctly and without compromising product performance.
• Always complies with Quality and Safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in packaging design, structural/packaging engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with packaging materials such as corrugated boards, foam, molded pulp, plastics, or similar substrates; exposure to NPI, reliability testing, or supply‑chain packaging is a plus.
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, or equivalent design tools).
• Strong knowledge of material properties, packaging standards, and distribution/transportation environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and project‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Willing to work onsite in Rosario, Cavite
