Purpose:
The Process Automation, Controls and Optimization (PACO) Engineer role will be responsible for engineering, maintenance and improvement of base layer and advanced process control configuration, including associated alarms, field devices and connections to interface systems, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations of Prime Energy assets.

Prime Energy Resources Development B.V. (Prime Energy) operates the Malampaya natural gas production facilities that supplies fuel to customer power plants with combined generating capacity of around 2.0 GW. The natural gas production facilities include the Shallow Water Platform (SWP) with integrated Depletion Compression Platform (DCP) located offshore Palawan, and Onshore Gas Plant (OGP) in Batangas City.
The PACO Engineer is a member of the Instruments, Controls and Electrical team under the Engineering and Projects Department.
THE ROLE
The PACO Engineer role will be responsible for engineering, maintenance and improvement of base layer and advanced process control configuration, including associated alarms, field devices and connections to interface systems, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations of Prime Energy assets.
Process Automation and Control:
- Develops specifications for base layer and advanced process control configuration of each asset and ensures process stability thru process control tuning and identification and resolution of field instrumentation issues.
- Provides support to Process Engineering, Rotating Equipment and other disciplines in evaluating and improving process control performance in the asset based on identified operating modes.
Alarm Management:
- Manages the Master Alarm Database for each asset ensuring timely updates on alarm parameters such as its rationale, setpoints, operator responses and conditional configuration (e.g. delays and suppressions).
- Act as PACO rep in regular alarm reviews and delivers PACO-related actions items, including integration of multi-discipline solutions to alarm bad actors.
Asset Management System (AMS) Processes:
- Management of Change: Provides PACO discipline assurance to plant changes or modifications throughout the project lifecycle (i.e., opportunity framing stage, concept-select phase, detailed engineering and, site execution and commissioning) based on company specifications, international and local standards and industry best practices.
- Manage Threats and Opportunities: Leads problem solving and/or investigation of technical issues involving process control and alarm management to improve integrity and reliability of field instrumentation, automation systems and operational practices. Own and deliver assigned threats and opportunities.
- Perform Maintenance Execution: Manages work preparation for automation system-related corrective actions ensuring readiness of site execution and optimization of system vendor implementation.
- Manage Supply Chain: Manages assigned PACO-related contracts ensuring availability of support to automation systems, stability of supply for field instrumentation materials and continuous improvement of vendor/contractor services.
THE INDIVIDUAL
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, preferably Instrumentation and Controls, Electronics or Chemical.
- At least 5 years of cumulative experience in process control, alarm management and engineering for oil and gas facilities or similar industry.
- Awareness of Functional Safety Engineering practices.
- Experienced practitioner of Automation System engineering and maintenance, including OT network communications.
- In addition to key professional skills and experience, the following will also be considered during the selection process: Certification in process controls and/or field instrumentation
