Shift: Mid shift aligned with UK timezones (start between 13:00–16:00)
Onboarding: First month fully onsite; then hybrid 3 days onsite per week
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal Infrastructure Developer to join our dynamic team. This role requires deep expertise in cloud automation, engineering, and architectural design, with a focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will have a strong programming background and a proven track record of developing custom solutions. They will have significant experience using AI technologies as part of both the development process and the delivered solutions. As a senior member of the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our cloud infrastructure, leading technical projects, and mentoring junior engineers.
Role Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical leader and hands-on developer within the team.
- Provide technical oversight for architecture, design, and implementation decisions.
- Architecting AI-assisted SDLCs, establishing technical boundaries, enforcing responsible AI practices and defining how models (e.g. LLMs and RAG pipelines) integrate into the core platform architecture.
- Cloud Architecture & Engineering: Design, implement, and optimize complex AWS-based infrastructure solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) and terraform.
- Software Development: Build robust, scalable applications and tools using preferred programming languages such as Python, React.js, and JavaScript
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Research and stay up to date on the latest advancements in cloud distributed systems and generative AI technologies and methodologies
- Project Leadership: Take ownership of cloud and platform engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, securely, and in accordance with organizational standards.
- Technical Strategy & Governance: Understand corporate toolsets, provide recommendations for architectural designs, and ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks.
- Escalation & Troubleshooting: Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing guidance and support to other team members.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with cross-functional teams, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster continuous improvement. Mentor and coach engineers, fostering technical growth and career development
- Drive adherence to AI governance & risk management, SDLC processes, planning, and prioritization.
Experience / Competences
Essential
- Proven experience in technical leadership within software delivery teams.
- Extensive AWS expertise, including experience with microservices, cloud automation, security best practices, and architectural design.
- Proficiency in Amazon Bedrock, TensorFlow, and PyTorch for developing AI solutions.
- Experience with spec-driven and test-driven development, context engineering & prompt rigor and agentic workflow orchestration.
- Strong hands-on experience with full-stack development (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Proficiency in front-end frameworks (React, Angular) and back-end technologies.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity in security and compliance within cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud-based environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desired
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, or AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and quality assurance principles.
- Ability to influence technical direction and drive innovation.
- Experience utilizing MCP servers to connect agents with external data sources
- Hands-on experience with CDK and Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Exposure to observability tools and performance monitoring.
