Job description
This position is within the Engineering Solutions Group at XP Power. The successful candidate will support the design and development of custom power delivery products, including AC/DC, DC/DC, high power, low power, high voltage, and low voltage switch mode power supplies, working under the guidance of senior engineers.
The Engineering Solutions Group features a collaborative environment with creative, smart people and cutting-edge technologies. Engineering excellence is expected and encouraged. Come join us in crafting solutions the world does not know of yet!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the design and development of AC/DC and DC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various topologies, under guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist in taking products from concept through prototype and into production by helping ensure designs meet performance, schedule, cost, and reliability targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (PCB layout, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Test, and Quality Engineering) to help ensure designs meet DfX requirements.
- Support component selection activities by researching parts, comparing options, and assisting with documentation of performance/reliability/regulatory considerations.
- Participate in research and development of new technologies and assist in lab evaluation activities.
- Participate in internal design reviews by preparing supporting material, documenting feedback, and tracking follow-ups.
- Perform circuit simulations, DFMEA, component stress analysis, and design verification testing; collect data and contribute to technical reports.
- Support test execution including setup, measurement, data collection, and report generation while maintaining good engineering documentation practices.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for product release and support engineering change activities (ECR/ECO processing via SAP, as applicable to the role).
- Support RMA / failure analysis activities by assisting with troubleshooting, data gathering, and documenting root cause findings and corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in mixed signal circuit design, simulations, and test of power electronics.
- Foundational knowledge of power conversion principles, topologies, and technologies (AC/DC and DC/DC switch mode power supplies)
- Exposure to circuit simulation and bench testing; able to support structured experiments and summarize results clearly
- Understanding of schematic interpretation, component functions, and electrical measurements
- Ability to execute tests with guidance (setup, measurement, data capture) and contribute to results reporting/documentation
- Developing debug skills: problem tracking, documenting observations, and collaborating on root-cause investigations
- Experience with test data collection and analysis (e.g., efficiency curves, thermal trends, ripple/noise measurements)
- Exposure to test plan/test procedure development is a plus
- RF and High Voltage exposure is a plus (training/mentorship expected where needed)
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision on well-defined tasks
