Role Overview
We are looking for a strong Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer to work within an agile team to plan, design and develop Business Intelligence dashboards and reports. You will analyze the needs of the business, strategize and design a plan to meet the specified needs, then execute the plan, using Business Intelligence tools to deliver the Business Intelligence solution. This is a highly collaborative position and you'll work with business, development and testing team members, often in multiple geographies.
Key Accountabilities / Duties:
- Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, groups and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced
- Gather and document functional and technical requirements, and translate requirements into reporting solutions, analytic tools, and dashboards that in turn delivers actionable data to end users
- Develop in-depth understanding of underlying data, data structures, and business uses of data
- Develop expertise in the business operations and how data supports those operations in order to provide the most effective business intelligence solutions possible
- Identify gaps in data collection, the data model, and meta data for future enhancements
- Create simple to complex data, reporting, and business intelligence solutions by utilizing existing reporting, analytics and business intelligence platforms
- Comply with standards, best practices, and policies defined for the team
- Provide support as required to ensure the availability and optimized performance of developed business intelligence applications and reports
- Write high quality code to retrieve, analyze and present the data
- Work with testing organization to write and execute comprehensive test plans that validate the accuracy of information and functionality to ensure delivery of high quality business intelligence applications.
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced direct work experience in Microsoft PowerBI (PowerBI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power Query, and DAX).
- Work experience in any other BI tools such as Dundas BI, Tableau, Spotfire, PowerPivot or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge in data transformation and modeling.
- Experience in data visualization and data storytelling.
- Advanced direct work experience developing business focused automated reports using tools as well as building necessary SQL data objects used by reports.
- Advanced direct work experience with Data Warehouse and related technologies such Microsoft SSIS, SQL, ETL, and OLAP data structures.
- Advanced SQL development experience. Demonstrated experience creating, debugging, and modifying complex stored procedures and views, as well as querying and updating data using SQL.
- Strong knowledge of data migration between databases.
- Experience with production support and troubleshooting common report / data process issues.
- Exposure to extracting data from enterprise level system, such as CRMs, HRIS, or ERP a plus.
- Understands software development methodologies and best practices as it pertains to database and report development, to include reviewing and testing deliverables.
- Ability to document technical requirements for business processes and development needs.
- Ability to create presentation-ready visuals, mock-ups, charts, graphs and summary reports in tight timeframes.
- Ability to organize time to meet project timelines and effectively find solutions to common business intelligence problems with minimal to no guidance.
- Ability to build strong relationships with team members and decision makers across the business.
- Willingness to tackle complex projects to successful completion and to learn new technologies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, as well as willingness to learn approved third-party solutions.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential, as well as having strong interpersonal skills
- Very good communication skills and ability to collaborate with a global team
- Displays appropriate communication skills geared towards specifics audiences including teammates, peers, and management.
Other desirable skills:
- Familiar with data migration from On Premise to Azure
- Experience with web development and Powershell scripting JavaScript, HTML/CSS programming experience
