About the Company

As a key subsidiary of SMC Infrastructure, you will join the Company that is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the MRT7 project. The MRT7 Project is set to redefine the commute between Metro Manila and Bulacan by introducing a modern, high-efficiency rail network.

The MRT7 Project at a Glance

The MRT7 is a 22-kilometer rail and road system extending from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Designed to be a backbone of northern metropolitan transit, the project features 14 strategically placed stations, including Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, University Avenue, Batasan, and San Jose del Monte.

Once fully operational, the MRT7 is engineered to support a massive daily capacity of up to 650,000 passengers, offering a faster and more seamless travel experience for the commuting public.

About the Role

The Power and Third Rail Technician is responsible for conducting a comprehensive range of routine visual inspections and preventive checks across power systems and third-rail equipment. This role involves executing a rigorous maintenance schedule, ranging from bi-weekly transformer inspections and monthly switchgear reviews to detailed semi-annual and annual assessments of rectifiers, high-speed circuit breakers, and expansion joints. The technician also manages long-term maintenance cycles, performing specialized inspections at three- and five-year intervals for earthing devices and insulators to ensure sustained system integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute a systematic maintenance schedule for high-voltage and traction power equipment to prevent system degradation.
  • Conduct visual inspections of power systems and perform specific checks on transformers to monitor thermal and operational status.
  • Perform visual assessments of switchgear and third-rail infrastructure.
  • Execute detailed technical inspections and cleaning of switchgear systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive deep-dive inspections of transformers, rectifiers, high-speed circuit breakers (HSCBs), and third-rail systems.
  • Manage specialized maintenance for earthing devices, expansion joints, and insulators at 3-year and 5-year intervals.
  • Execute reactive maintenance to address equipment faults and system irregularities.
  • Serve as a technical first responder to power system failures, performing initial troubleshooting and restoration activities to maintain train service continuity.
  • Implement and adhere to strict electrical safety protocols and Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during all maintenance operations.
  • Ensure all maintenance support activities are executed in compliance with corporate safety and housekeeping regulations.
  • Update the Maintenance Management System (MMS) with real-time status reports on tools, equipment, and components to ensure data integrity.
  • Verify the calibration and condition of specialized testing instruments and technical tools.
  • Contribute to the procurement lifecycle by providing technical input for the acquisition of power system goods, specialized services, and assets.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily and monthly accomplishment reports, documenting technical findings, repair actions, and system reliability metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Certification on Vocational Course/s; Diploma in Technology-related Fields; or a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electronics, or other relevant technical courses.
  • Preferably with at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
