PostgreSQL Administrator

Please find the job description for the role:

Must-Have

Proficiency in setting up PostgreSQL instances, configuring parameters, and managing clusters.Query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and vacuum/analyze expertise.

Managing roles, permissions, and security policies

Hands-on experience with pg_dump, pg_basebackup, PITR, and recovery strategies.

Query optimization, indexing, vacuum/analyze, and configuration tuning

Setting up and managing streaming replication, failover, and clustering.

Regular health checks, capacity planning, log analysis, and proactive issue resolution.

Applying patches, version upgrades, and ensuring compatibility.

Strong command over SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions.

Ability to diagnose and resolve performance, connectivity, and data consistency issues.

Linux/Unix Administration Basics since PostgreSQL runs primarily on Linux, knowledge of system administration is essential

Good-to-Have

Query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and vacuum/analyze expertise.

Experience with streaming replication, logical replication, and tools like Patroni or PgPool.

Familiarity with AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or Google Cloud SQL.

Proficiency in Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible for automation of DBA tasks.

Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.

Designing schemas, normalization, partitioning, and handling large datasets.

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role

Detailed knowledge of Database management processes and architecture

Database administration and support for Postgre SQL

A Minimum of 7+ years experience as an PostGre DBA; 5+ experience with Postgre SQL

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in supporting & maintaining PostGre SQL

Thorough understanding of database performance analysis and tuning / capacity planning / query optimization

Extensive experience with building & supporting the latest versions of DB and Application migration

Experience in writing Shell Scripting, Linux, Unix, Windows

Experience in Performance monitoring & Automation tools
