The Pollution Control Officer is responsible for the implementation and compliance of the Tree Cutting Permit and Special Land-use Permit; and in the preparation and implementation of the Watershed Management and Enhancement Plan as required in the Environmental Compliance Certificate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE
- Ensures compliance with all applicable environmental regulations set by government agencies.
- Monitors operations for compliance with established environmental regulatory requirements.
POLLUTION CONTROL
- Conducts regular pollution control audits of facilities and operations of the project to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Attends the requirements of the establishment or agency prior to the construction or installation of pollution control facilities including the application and securing of necessary pollution permits and renewal thereof.
- Monitors activities pertaining to the installation or construction of pollution source and control facilities to ensure their compliance with the air, noise and water quality standards.
- Ensures compliance of implementing rules and regulations under PD 984.
- Ensures the proper operation and maintenance of pollution control facilities of the establishment or agency.
- Reports within reasonable time to DENR the breakdown of any pollution control facility, and the estimated and actual date of completion/repair and operation.
- Analyzes and promptly submits periodic reports validated/certified by the Project Manager regarding pollution cases and/or environmental management practices.
- Closely coordinate with DENR and keep abreast with the requirements of DENR and the latest available technology on the prevention, control and abatement of pollution.
- Attends meetings of Pollution Control Officers which may from time to time be called by the DENR.
- Facilitates compliance of the project/Company with the requirements that may from time to time be prescribed by the DENR.
- Recommends to the management the installation and operation of additional equipment for the pollution abatement facilities.
- In Addition to inspection reports, keep a daily dairy summarizing Contractor's operations, problems encountered and corrective measures taken relative to work area, men, equipment on site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree relevant to the job, preferably a Graduate of Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Chemical Engineering, Forestry.
- PCO Accredited
- With at least two (2) years of related experience; Experience in dealing with government agencies (e.g. LGUs, DENR, Barangay and Municipal Offices).
- With knowledge on environmental laws
