Podcast Editor VA

We are looking for a detail-oriented Podcast Editor to join our production workflow as an editing assistant across several established podcasts. You will do the first-pass edit on episodes in Descript, working on audio and video together with the main focus on clean, polished audio. The ideal candidate has a sharp ear, cares about quality, and is eager to learn a high editing standard from an experienced producer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform first-pass edits on podcast episodes in Descript, editing audio and video together with the emphasis on audio quality
• Remove filler words, long pauses, mistakes, pops, and background noise to improve flow and clarity
• Balance audio levels and clean up sound for a consistent listening experience
• Keep video in sync with audio edits on simple sit-down, interview-style recordings
• Add intros, outros, music, and transitions following each show's established format
• Study a library of finished episodes and use them as a blueprint for the expected editing standard
• Review every edit carefully by ear instead of relying on AI tools alone
• Assist with exporting final files, such as full audio, full video, and short social media clips, following established workflows as needed
• Organize project files and deliver finished work through shared Google Drive folders
• Join occasional calls to review projects, receive direction, and apply feedback quickly

Mandatory Skills:

• Proven experience editing podcasts or interview-style spoken-word content
• Proficiency in Descript, or strong Adobe Audition experience with the ability to adapt quickly to Descript
• Excellent ear for audio quality, pacing, and natural-sounding edits
• Ability to edit carefully and manually rather than relying on automated AI tools
• High standard for polished, professional output
• Coachable, open to feedback, and genuinely eager to learn and improve
• Familiarity with Google Workspace (Google Drive, Google Docs)
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
• Strong communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Working experience with Adobe Audition for audio polishing and restoration
• Basic familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, such as syncing or correcting files
• Experience editing both audio and video podcast formats
• Background in sound design, music mixing, or voiceover editing
• Experience exporting short-form clips for social media
• Interest in personal growth and mental health topics, film and entertainment, or pets and dog training
• Ability to manage multiple shows and episodes simultaneously
• Growth mindset and interest in taking on more responsibility over time
