Job Summary:
The Platform Engineering Department Head is responsible for creating, leading, and implementing the bank's end-to-end platform strategy. This role will oversee the design, development, deployment, and governance of all foundational technology platforms and the enterprise DevOps strategy and framework, with a mandate to accelerate time-to-market, improve software quality, and increase operational efficiency across all IT functions.
How will you contribute:
Platform Strategy and Leadership
- Creates and implements a visionary platform engineering strategy aligned with the bank's digital transformation goals and business objectives.
- Develops and maintains a robust Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering that enables development teams to rapidly and safely deploy software.
- Leads the development and implementation of the comprehensive DevOps strategy to accelerate time-to-market and increase operational efficiency.
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation, fostering the adoption of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
Architecture and Governance
- Oversees the architectural design and governance of core technology platforms, including cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
- Develops, maintains, and implements comprehensive Platform and DevOps policies and procedures.
- Ensures that platform development adheres to all internal security, risk, and regulatory policies, including BSP policies such as the Manual of Regulations for Banks (MORB) and the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Program (MTPP).
Technical Execution and Delivery
- Leads the collaboration with application development, IT operations, and quality assurance teams to implement automated processes for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), testing, and monitoring.
- Directs key digital engineering services functions, including defining automation testing strategies, techniques, tools, and frameworks.
- Drives the adoption of modern cloud technologies, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
People and Organizational Management
- Manages, mentors, and develops a high-performing team of Platform Engineers, DevOps Architects, and Site Reliability Engineers.
- Establishes and monitors team-level metrics to drive performance and efficiency.
- Leads the collaboration with management to identify and resolve organizational impediments to agile and platform adoption.
What will make you successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field of studies.
- At least 15 years of experience in IT, with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience handling Platform Engineering, DevOps, and/or Site Reliability Engineering teams.
- Advanced knowledge in modern technology disciplines, including: Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Containerization & Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift), Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) automation and tools, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), Advanced Software Automation Testing, Working knowledge of banking principles and terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication, expert decisiveness, strong people development and coaching skills, and the ability to manage strategically and courageously.
