Job Description

Job Summary

The Platform Engineer is responsible for securing, maintaining, and continuously improving the infrastructure that supports the company's VoIP and communication platforms. This role ensures the reliability, availability, security, and performance of systems across hybrid environments, including Linux/UNIX servers, Microsoft servers, public cloud, private cloud, containerized platforms, databases, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.

 

The role requires strong problem-solving skills, structured system thinking, an automation mindset, and close collaboration with development, operations, service delivery, NOC, and security teams to deliver stable, scalable, and secure platform services.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

 

Platform and Infrastructure Management

·       Design, implement, maintain, and optimize platform infrastructure supporting VoIP and communication services.

·       Manage Linux/UNIX and Microsoft Windows Server environments used for production and non-production systems.

·       Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and high availability to support business and customer requirements.

·       Maintain and improve server, network, cloud, database, and application infrastructure components.

·       Support performance optimization activities to ensure efficient system operations and reduced service disruptions.

VoIP Infrastructure Support

·       Maintain the infrastructure supporting VoIP services, including servers, network components, cloud resources, and communication platforms.

·       Support VoIP-related technologies and protocols such as SIP, RTP, and other real-time communication services.

·       Monitor VoIP platform performance and troubleshoot infrastructure-related service issues.

·       Assist in ensuring that VoIP systems remain secure, stable, and available for internal and external users.

Security Operations and Hardening

·       Apply infrastructure security best practices, including access controls, patch management, vulnerability remediation, encryption, and system hardening.

·       Monitor and help mitigate platform security threats, including service disruption risks, unauthorized access, and VoIP-related vulnerabilities.

·       Participate in security audits, infrastructure assessments, and remediation activities.

·       Work with security teams to strengthen platform protection and ensure compliance with company security standards.

Cloud, Containerization, and Automation

·       Manage and support public cloud and private cloud infrastructure used for platform and VoIP services.

·       Support Docker/containerized environments and assist in maintaining container-based deployments.

·       Assist in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployment and operational efficiency.

·       Use scripting and automation tools to improve repetitive tasks, reduce manual errors, and enhance operational productivity.

·       Support infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar platforms when applicable.

Monitoring, Incident Response, and Troubleshooting

·       Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to detect and resolve platform issues proactively.

·       Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventive actions.

·       Provide technical support during production issues, outages, and escalations.

·       Maintain clear documentation of incidents, configurations, troubleshooting steps, and operational procedures.

 

     Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

·       Work closely with Development, Operations, Service Delivery, NOC, Security, and other technical teams to ensure smooth platform operations.

·       Collaborate on system integration, deployment, release management, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

·       Promote continuous improvement by identifying process gaps, automation opportunities, and system enhancements.

·       Maintain clear communication with stakeholders during incidents, projects, and operational activities.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, or any related field.

·       At least 2–5 years of experience in platform engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, infrastructure operations, or a similar technical role.

·       Experience supporting VoIP, telecommunications, real-time communication systems, or cloud-based platforms is an advantage.

·       Experience with Linux/UNIX and Microsoft Windows Server administration.

·       Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

·       Exposure to Docker, containerization, CI/CD, automation tools, databases, APIs, and system integrations is preferred.
