Plant Engineer - Wind

Location: Libmanan Camarines Sur

Job Level: Entry Level

As Plant Engineer, you will oversee the technical operations, maintenance, and reliability of wind turbine generators (WTGs) and balance-of-plant (BOP) systems. This role provides engineering support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization of wind farm performance. The Plant Engineer coordinates closely with technicians, contractors, and OEMs to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations in compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements. contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with the Plant Supervisor to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of WTGs, substations, and BOP equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance in troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Review and approve maintenance plans, checklists, and service procedures.
  • Support condition monitoring and recommend predictive maintenance actions.

Contractor Management

  • Accompany and oversee contractors during large corrective works, and specialized repairs (gearbox, generator, transformer, or blade replacement).
  • Verify contractor compliance with EHS protocols, permits-to-work, and quality standards.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and provide technical feedback to management.

Engineering & Reliability

  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of turbine faults and recurring issues.
  • Recommend design improvements, retrofits, and technical upgrades to enhance performance.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61400 standards, Philippine Grid Code, Philippine Electrical Code and OEM specifications.
  • Support SCADA data analysis, downtime categorization, and KPI reporting (availability, reliability, energy yield).

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to site safety procedures (LOTO, high-voltage switching, fall protection, rescue).
  • Coordinate with DENR and other regulatory agencies for environmental compliance (oil spill prevention, waste disposal, avian monitoring).
  • Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare technical reports, RCA documentation, and corrective action plans.
  • Provide engineering input for budgets, spare parts planning, and CAPEX/OPEX optimization.
  • Maintain asset lifecycle records and ensure accurate CMMS data entry.

To Succeed in this Role, we need someone who:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to lead technical investigations.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61400, Philippine Grid Code, and RA 7920 standards.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Strong leadership, contractor management, and communication skills.
  • Safety-first mindset with ability to enforce compliance among teams and third parties.

Other Requirements:

  • Willing to work in remote wind farm locations with shifting schedules.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Open to continuous professional development, advanced certifications, and technical training.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in Power Plant
  • Licensed engineer required
  • training in wind turbine systems (OEM certifications, HV switching, GWO Certificate) preferred.
  • Experience leading troubleshooting activities and coordinating with OEMs or contractors.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, HV/MV substations, protection systems, and PLC-based controls.
  • No fear of heights.

Technical / Functional Skills:

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft and Plant Equipment.
  • Strong skills in Troubleshooting.
