Sr. Staff Accountant

Job Description:

· Assist with daily operations of the accounting department including investment management, account reconciliations and analyses, journal entries and reviewing accounting classifications, in accordance with US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).

· Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

· Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.

· Support audit requests by preparing schedules and providing required documentation.

· Review premium, claims, commission, and reinsurance transactions for proper accounting treatment.

· Monitor cash activity and assist with bank reconciliations.

· Support regulatory filings and compliance reporting as needed.

· Analyze variances and explain changes in financial results.

· Document internal accounting processes and controls, and recommend improvements.

· Support accurate and timely analysis of financial data, including written premiums, losses, investments, and reinsurance activity.

· Assist with reinsurance accounting processes and procedures.

· Maintain accurate records and support strong internal controls.

· Communicate clearly with internal teams, managing general agents, and reinsurance partners.

· Work well under pressure, take ownership of assigned tasks, and follow through on commitments.

· Maintain a positive, responsible, and team-oriented attitude.

Job Requirements:

· 3 + years of public auditing/accounting or equivalent experience.

· Prior experience in insurance preferred

· Understanding of applicable accounting rules and regulations.

· Strong knowledge of financial reporting and experience with full cycle accounting.

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent Experience in Statutory Accounting.

· Detail oriented and strong organizational skills for handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Expert level of proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other financial reporting tools
