Our client is a fast-growing DTC pet brand with hundreds of thousands of customers across North America and scaling fast. They're building out their paid-creative engine and need a performance video editor who can ship high-volume, test-ready video ads without sacrificing quality.
This is not a brand film role. Polish doesn't always convert. The right combination of hook, pacing, retention, and message does. You'll be cutting scroll-stopping video ads for Meta and TikTok, fast, clean, and built to perform.
What You'll Do
- Edit high-volume video ad creatives: UGC ads, VSLs, talking-head, listicle, and problem-led ads for Meta and TikTok feed, Stories, and Reels
- Execute quickly from briefs provided by the creative strategist. A winning concept needs 5 hook variants, not 5 days
- Cut for the hook and the hold: stop the scroll in the first 2 seconds and hold attention to the CTA
- Produce multiple aspect ratios and iterations per ad (9:16, 4:5, 1:1) and rapid variant rounds for creative testing
- Assemble raw UGC, product footage, and b-roll into finished, high-retention ads with tight pacing
- Design styled, timed captions and sound: legible with sound off, synced to the edit, music and SFX that support pacing
- Iterate based on performance feedback: refine what's working, kill what isn't
- Use AI video tools (Runway, Kling, HeyGen, ElevenLabs, etc.) to scale output without dropping quality
- Deliver production-ready, organized, export-ready files
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years editing video ads for DTC/ecom brands on paid social, not brand film, corporate, or wedding/event work
- A portfolio of performance-oriented work: scroll-stoppers that convert, not just a polished showreel
- Expert-level in Premiere and/or After Effects (CapCut/DaVinci a plus)
- Strong grasp of direct-response editing: hooks, pacing, retention, captions, and instant communication on a small screen
- Speed and volume: you can tell us how many ads you ship per week without flinching
- AI-native: generative video, AI voiceover, and AI b-roll are already part of your daily workflow
- Able to work US business hours (strong overlap with US Eastern/Central)
- Self-directed: you move fast across briefs and brand voices without hand-holding
Who You're Not
- Your background is brand film, corporate, or event editing: beautiful work that was never built to convert
- You need detailed direction for every cut and can't move without it
- You're precious about volume: you'd rather make one perfect edit than twenty test-ready ones
- You measure your work in aesthetics or awards, not in what performs
Compensation & Setup
- $2,000 to 3,000 USD/month, based on experience
- Performance bonus tied to winning creative
- Fully remote (must overlap with US hours)
- Long-term contractor role with room to grow as the creative engine scales
