About the Role

In the spirit of our People team purpose — mobilising capability to enable our vision — the People Business Partner team operates with clarity and focus, working on the right things at the right time to deliver the right results. We are ambitious to 10x our impact within Zepz.

This is a hands-on, operationally excellent People Business Partner role based full-time in our Cebu office. You will be the primary People partner on the ground for our Customer Operations, FinCrime, and Payment Operations teams — three of Zepz's most operationally critical and fast-moving functions. You will provide day-to-day people support and guidance to senior managers and team leaders across these functions, while connecting closely with the global People team to ensure local execution remains aligned with Zepz's overall People strategy, the 2026 People Plan, and current OKRs.

You will bring a sound working knowledge of Philippine employment legislation and a genuine understanding of the operational realities of a large, office-based workforce. You will be known as a trusted, visible, and approachable People partner — someone who gets things done, builds strong relationships, and brings both empathy and pragmatism to every situation.

You will build strong relationships across the Cebu site, the global People team, and functional leaders. As a member of Zepz's People team you will aim high, embrace challenges, and always do what's right — acting with integrity and building trust as you contribute to the company's direction and long-term decision making.

What you will focus on:

  • Serve as the primary, on-the-ground People partner for Customer Ops, FinCrime, and Payment Ops in Cebu, building trusted relationships with senior managers and team leaders across all three functions.
  • Provide practical, timely, and commercially sound People guidance to senior managers on a broad range of topics including performance management, ER, development, team structure, and engagement.
  • Partner with the global People Business Partner team to ensure local People activity is joined up with global strategy, OKRs, and the 2026 People Plan pillars: Capability, Culture, and Operating Model.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant functional leadership meetings, acting as a visible and credible People presence within the Cebu site.
  • Own all Employee Relations for the Cebu-based population across Customer Ops, FinCrime, and Payment Ops, managing cases with confidence, fairness, and full compliance with Philippine labour law.
  • Apply a thorough working knowledge of Philippine employment legislation — including the Labor Code of the Philippines, DOLE regulations, and relevant NLRC processes — to all ER casework, policies, and people decisions.
  • Advise and coach senior managers through complex ER situations including disciplinary processes, grievances, performance improvement, and terminations, ensuring all actions are legally sound and consistently applied.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of changes in Philippine employment law and proactively ensure Zepz's local policies and practices remain compliant and current.
  • Work with the global People team and legal counsel as needed on cross-border matters, ensuring local nuance is properly represented in global decisions.
  • Support the delivery of all core people cycle activities across the Cebu functions — including performance reviews, probation, promotions, pay review, and engagement surveys — ensuring these run smoothly, on time, and in line with global process.
  • Ensure the join, move, and leave experience for Cebu-based employees is best-in-class, consistently delivered, and aligned with both global standards and local requirements.
  • Empower and coach senior managers to own BAU people processes themselves, building local manager capability and reducing reliance on People for routine tasks.
  • Champion the use of HiBob and People self-service tools across the Cebu site, supporting adoption and ensuring data accuracy for the Cebu population.
  • Contribute to the development and localisation of People policies and procedures, ensuring global policies are adapted appropriately for the Philippines context.
  • Support headcount governance for the Cebu-based functions, working with the global People Business Partner and Finance to ensure headcount remains within budget and aligned to agreed OpEx principles throughout the year.

What we're looking for:

  • Solid People Business Partnering or HR generalist experience, ideally within a high-volume, operationally intensive environment such as customer operations, shared services, BPO, fintech, or financial services.
  • Sound, current working knowledge of Philippine employment legislation including the Labor Code, DOLE regulations, and NLRC processes — this is essential, not desirable.
  • Proven experience managing a broad range of ER cases from start to finish, with the confidence to advise senior managers and escalate appropriately when required.
  • Experience partnering with senior managers and team leaders in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment, providing practical and timely People support.
  • Comfortable working as part of a globally distributed People team, collaborating across time zones and ensuring local execution aligns with global strategy and OKRs.
  • Led by data: able to use workforce metrics and insight to inform people decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — approachable, clear, direct, and credible at all levels of the organisation.
  • Operationally excellent and highly organised, with the ability to manage a varied and often unpredictable workload with pace and professionalism.
  • Self-starter with high energy and drive; able to work independently and proactively with appropriate direction from the global team.
  • Solution-focused, with empathy, a can-do attitude, and mature decision-making skills.
  • Experience of high-growth or scaling businesses; comfortable with ambiguity and change.
  • CIPD qualification, equivalent HR qualification, or relevant degree preferred. Filipino HR certifications (e.g. PHR-CA) are a welcome addition.
  • A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied to People practices — from enhancing analysis and insight generation quickly, to improving how we design and deploy people processes and communications.
  • Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to link together information, draft communications, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to use it.
  • Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
  • Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of people data, employee experience and compliance.
  • Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential — what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with the wider People team.

Our global team of 800+ people is spread across six continents. We aspire to hire the best mix of people from former Olympians to YouTube influencers and we speak over twenty languages. This incredible diversity isn't a bonus; it's the engine that lets us serve the world.
