Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles in line with Australian legislation.
- Reconcile monthly wages, PAYG withholding, and superannuation against Xero records, and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Handle payroll enquiries from employees and account managers with clear, timely responses.
- Maintain accurate financial records for allocated accounts, including AP/AR and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and process journals, accruals, and adjustments as required.
- Work directly with an assigned account manager and flex across accounts as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications
Before you apply, confirm:
- You have hands-on experience processing Australian payroll end-to-end, including PAYG, superannuation, leave entitlements, and STP.
- You're confident reconciling payroll against ledger records without needing close supervision.
- You have solid Xero experience across bookkeeping, payroll, and reconciliations.
- You have genuine bookkeeping experience beyond payroll (AP/AR, GL coding, journals).
- You can work Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm AEST with a stable internet connection and a quiet home setup.
- Your written and spoken English is clear and professional for direct client contact.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Employment Hero as a payroll platform.
- Exposure to Dext for expense/receipt processing.
- Experience supporting more than one client account at a time.
Success Outcomes
30 Days: Fully onboarded across Xero and client systems, running payroll cycles under guidance.
60 Days: Managing payroll independently for your allocated accounts, with reconciliations resolved without escalation.
90 Days: Full ownership of payroll for your accounts, actively contributing to bookkeeping support, and trusted to flag and fix issues before they're raised.
