Job Description

Company Overview

A well-established Australian organization operating within the disability support sector under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The company is focused on maintaining strong compliance, operational accuracy, and high-quality support services while continuing to scale its workforce and internal operations.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, flexible during Sydney, Australia business hours; 40h per week

Responsibilities

SCHADS Award Compliance

  • Interpret and apply the SCHADS Award correctly across varying employee situations
  • Calculate penalty rates, overtime, allowances, sleepovers, broken shifts, and loadings
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work and NDIS-related payroll requirements
  • Monitor payroll practices to reduce compliance risks and discrepancies

Reporting & Support

  • Generate payroll reports and reconcile payroll data
  • Support audits and payroll-related compliance reviews
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Coordinate with HR and operations teams regarding payroll updates and changes

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Officer within Australia
  • Strong hands-on experience with the SCHADS Award (mandatory requirement)
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and Fair Work compliance
  • Experience processing payroll for healthcare, disability, or support service workers preferred
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with payroll calculations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with payroll systems, Excel, and Google Workspace
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Highly Regarded Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within the NDIS or disability services sector
  • Experience handling complex award interpretations and shift structures
  • Familiarity with payroll auditing and reconciliation processes
  • Experience supporting distributed or remote workforces
  • Knowledge of superannuation, leave accruals, and employee entitlements

Scope

  • Manage payroll operations within a compliance-driven NDIS environment
  • Ensure accurate interpretation and application of SCHADS Award conditions
  • Support operational continuity through timely and reliable payroll processing
  • Work closely with internal teams to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance
