Part-Time Property Management Accounting Assistant
Job Type: Part-Time (20 hours per week)
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Pacific Time
Salary: $550/month
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Management Accounting Assistant to support the financial operations of a rental property portfolio. This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records within AppFolio, ensuring that property-related transactions are properly categorized, documented, and reported. The ideal candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, maintain organized financial documentation, and generate financial reports to support property performance analysis and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and categorize property-related expenses within AppFolio.
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
- Upload, organize, and maintain invoices and supporting financial documentation in the system.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled within the property management software.
- Generate financial reports, including Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and other property-level reports.
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial data for multiple rental properties.
- Support the accounting process by ensuring timely and accurate data entry and documentation.
- Identify and flag discrepancies or missing financial information when reviewing transactions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with AppFolio or similar property management accounting software.
- Background in accounting, bookkeeping, or property management accounting.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles including journal entries and expense categorization.
- Experience preparing or generating financial reports such as Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records across multiple properties.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
