Job Title: Paralegal (Fertility & Surrogacy Law)

Location: Fully Remote, Philippines

Salary: $6.00 - $10.00 per hour based on experience

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time

Job Description

As a Paralegal specializing in Fertility and Surrogacy law, you will support the busiest fertility law practice in Canada, assisting with drafting, client coordination, and preliminary contract review to reduce the lawyer's workload. The role requires responsiveness, professionalism, and compassion, including some availability on evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant (experience in family law, fertility law, or contracts is a major plus).
  • Strong drafting skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Highly responsive and reliable, including comfort answering urgent questions outside standard business hours.
  • Empathy and professionalism when dealing with clients in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work in high-volume, fast-moving environments.
  • Experience with FileVine (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Draft legal agreements involving donors, surrogates, and intended parents, including declarations and statutory documentation.
  • Conduct initial review of contracts to ensure financial terms are correct, key protections are included, and client-specific needs are documented.
  • Prepare contracts for final lawyer review, reducing review time.
  • Assist with statutory declarations of parentage and other reproductive law documents.
  • Conduct initial intake calls with surrogates, donors, and intended parents.
  • Gather financial needs and relevant details during intake conversations.
  • Answer routine and time-sensitive client questions with same-day responsiveness.
  • Maintain client relationships with empathy, professionalism, and regular communication.
  • Ensure all case files are accurate and up to date within FileVine.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and external partners, including agencies and clinics.
  • Organize documents, track deadlines, and support the lawyer in managing a high-volume practice.

  • Must have their own work device (preferably a desktop or laptop) and a stable internet connection.
  • Must be comfortable with using a time-tracking software for payroll purposes.
  • Must be willing to undergo a background verification check during the final stages of the hiring process.

Successful candidates for this role will be rewarded with the following benefits:

  • A total of five paid vacation days per year (additional days can be taken unpaid).
  • A 5% raise per year guaranteed (additional raises or bonuses may be given for outstanding performance).
  • A paid 15-minute break for every 4 hours of work.
  • Healthcare benefits after 2 months of full-time work.
  • Vacation days increase by 1 vacation day per year. I.e. after one year of employment, the total paid vacation days on year 2 would be six, on year 3 seven, etc.
