About the Role
The Overseas New Energy Business Lead will be responsible for developing and managing Digital China's new energy business in selected international markets.
The role will lead regional market development, project acquisition, business model design, partner ecosystem development, and operational management across solar PV, energy storage, wind power, power grids, and integrated energy solutions.
The successful candidate will combine strong industry expertise with commercial leadership, stakeholder management, and regional operating capabilities. The role carries direct accountability for project acquisition, business growth, and the achievement of regional business objectives.
Responsibilities
Regional Market Development and Project Acquisition
- Conduct market research and strategic planning for target countries and regions in the new energy sector, and develop market entry and business growth strategies.
- Identify and develop project opportunities across solar PV, energy storage, wind power, power grids, and integrated energy solutions, while establishing and maintaining a robust project pipeline.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with key clients, government authorities, energy companies, developers, EPC contractors, channel partners, financial institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Lead project development, commercial negotiations, and contract discussions, driving opportunities through contract award and commercial closure.
- Take ownership of regional business performance, including project acquisition, contract value, revenue growth, and the achievement of agreed business targets.
Business Model Development and Operational Management
- Design and continuously optimize localized business models, including project development, equipment sales, channel distribution, EPC cooperation, and operations and maintenance services.
- Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from opportunity identification, business development, and solution design through contract signing, delivery, and ongoing operations.
- Develop local partner ecosystems and integrate industry resources to strengthen market coverage, project delivery capabilities, and competitive positioning.
- Evaluate the commercial viability, potential returns, delivery requirements, and major risks of business opportunities.
- Drive collaboration between channel-based and project-based businesses to support sustainable regional growth.
Team Leadership and Resource Integration
- Build and lead local business teams, develop key talent, and strengthen regional operating capabilities.
- Establish effective regional governance, operating processes, and performance management mechanisms aligned with local market conditions.
- Coordinate headquarters, local teams, partners, suppliers, and other internal and external resources to support efficient project execution and business growth.
- Promote effective cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration across business development, solutions, delivery, finance, legal, and risk management teams.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, New Energy, Energy Economics, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in the energy, power, or new energy industry.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in overseas regional business development, operations, or new energy business management.
- Proven experience in developing or managing projects in one or more areas, including solar PV, energy storage, wind power, power grids, or integrated energy.
- Established relationships with government authorities, energy companies, developers, EPC contractors, channel partners, financial institutions, or other industry stakeholders are highly preferred.
- Substantial overseas working or living experience, with the ability to operate effectively in complex and cross-cultural business environments.
- Proficiency in English as a working language, with strong business communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally or undertake long-term overseas assignments as required.
