Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle Database software and related tools.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks including patching, tuning, backup, and recovery.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying bottlenecks and applying tuning methods (SQL tuning, index adjustments, optimizer improvements).
- Manage tablespaces, schemas, partitions, datafiles, and user permissions.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN or other tools.
- Ensure high availability through Oracle RAC, Data Guard, or other clustering/replication technologies.
Security & Compliance
- Apply database security policies, including encryption, auditing, and access control.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards for data protection and privacy.
- Conduct regular database audits and vulnerability assessments.
Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor database health using Oracle Enterprise Manager or equivalent tools.
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues, system errors, and database failures.
- Optimize SQL queries and application database interactions to improve efficiency.
Data Management & Support
- Support development teams with database design, query tuning, stored procedures, and data modeling.
- Manage data migrations, imports/exports, and refreshes between environments.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical production issues when needed.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and recovery plans.
- Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and system reliability.
- Participate in capacity planning and scalability initiatives to support future growth.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Oracle DBA (Oracle 11g/12c/19c or higher).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Oracle Database Architecture
- RMAN backup and recovery
- SQL and PL/SQL
- Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM
- Database security and encryption
- Performance tuning and optimization
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
Preferred:
- Oracle certifications (OCA, OCP, OCM).
- Experience with cloud databases (Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, Azure DB).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (bash, shell, Python).
- Experience with Oracle GoldenGate or other replication tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines or CI/CD environments.
