Job Description
Responsibilities
- Manage, administer, and optimise Oracle database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Implement, configure, and support Oracle RAC environments.
- Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Develop and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform performance tuning.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and automation tools.
- Collaborate with application and development teams to support efficient database design and deployment.
- Implement database security controls, conduct security audits, and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 5 or more years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
- Hands-on experience implementing and managing Oracle RAC environments.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl for automation.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
- Knowledge of database security and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS or HIPAA.
- Experience supporting additional database platforms such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
