Engineering Manager - NetSuite
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Engineering Manager for the NetSuite team. You will own solution design and technical direction for the platform, and you will own the team: how work is planned, how code reaches production, how the service stays healthy, and how engineers grow.
Responsibilities:
Technical design
- Own end-to-end solution design for NetSuite and its integrations, from business requirement through technical design
- Partner with business analysts and project managers to convert stated requests into correct requirements
- Set design standards, patterns, and reuse across the platform, including cross-system work spanning EDI, portals, Salesforce, and warehouse systems
Technical leadership
- Establish and own the software development lifecycle: source control, code review, environment strategy, and a gated release pipeline
- Own change management. Every production change is reviewed, approved, logged, and reversible.
- Own platform health: scheduled job reliability, concurrency and governance limits, integration throughput, and performance
Process management
- Own sprint planning, capacity modeling, and backlog discipline with the project manager and service manager
- Own incident and problem management, on-call rotation, and root cause analysis, favoring permanent fixes over repeat firefighting
- Identify and fix process gaps without being asked. Own the operational metrics and report them monthly.
Day-to-day management
- Lead team of engineers across junior, intermediate, and senior levels
- Set priorities, assign work, and hold delivery commitments
- Resolve cross-functional conflict at your level. Escalate patterns, not incidents.
Coaching and performance
- Coach engineers toward independence in design, execution, and delivery, and develop your technical lead toward broader ownership
- Set clear expectations, assess honestly, and rate on evidence
- Build a team that identifies problems and solves them rather than waiting for direction
Qualifications:
- +8 years in NetSuite or enterprise ERP platform engineering, including three or more directly managing five or more engineers
- Deep NetSuite technical expertise: SuiteScript 2.x, SuiteFlow, SuiteTalk, saved searches and analytics, the governance and concurrency model, and the role and permission model
- You have owned NetSuite solution design end to end across multiple projects. Bring examples you owned from requirement through delivery.
- You have built or materially rebuilt a software development lifecycle. You can describe what it replaced and what broke during the transition.
- You have owned production operations for a business-critical system: on-call, incident and problem management, root cause discipline
- You have been a control owner under an external audit regime such as SOC 2, SOX, ISO 27001, or GxP
- You have worked where your team owned outcomes end to end, set its own engineering standards, and made technical decisions without waiting for a client or head office to approve them
- Strong written and verbal English, working directly with US-based stakeholders
- Willing to work a full North American shift (graveyard schedule); stable home internet, minimum 25 Mbps
