Job Description

Responsibilities

Keeping patients and their families informed about surgical procedures
Administering medication and using medical equipment under the direction of a surgeon
Responding to sudden changes in patients health and managing occasional emergencies
Keeping good records and maintaining patients charts
Using basic math skills adequate for dosage calculations
Working with surgeons, medical/surgical nurses and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op
Standing for long periods, lifting moderate weight and working in environments where there may be infectious material

Requirements

Strong organizational abilities and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately
Stable emotions and a professional demeanor when interacting with people from all backgrounds
A valid nursing certificate or BSN degree from an accredited college or university
National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) certification
Current vaccinations and a lack of communicable diseases that might endanger patients with compromised immune systems
Careful attention to detail and an exacting approach to keeping charts and following care plans
