Role Description
Optometrist will work on-site in Calamba in a full-time capacity, providing comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments for patients of various ages. Daily responsibilities include evaluating visual acuity, diagnosing common refractive errors, prescribing eyeglasses or contact lenses, and identifying eye conditions requiring further medical or surgical management. The role involves educating patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of corrective lenses. The Optometrist will collaborate with other healthcare professionals, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and ensure compliance with clinic protocols and regulatory standards. The position also includes participation in quality improvement initiatives and patient outreach activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Licensed Optometrist (or eligibility for licensure) with a Doctor of Optometry degree or equivalent, and relevant clinical training.
- Demonstrated experience in comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, and prescribing corrective lenses in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Knowledge of common ocular diseases and conditions, with the ability to identify cases that require referral to ophthalmology or other specialists.
- Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive eye care in clear, respectful language.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, manage time efficiently, and maintain accurate, confidential patient records.
- Comfort with basic clinical technologies and diagnostic equipment commonly used in optometry (e.g., autorefractor, slit lamp, tonometer).
- Commitment to ethical practice, continuous learning, and adherence to local regulatory and professional standards.
- Experience working in a hospital, medical center, or high-volume clinic setting is an advantage; familiarity with electronic medical records is a plus.
