Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to manage global ocean freight and logistics activities, with a strong focus on cost optimisation, operational efficiency, data analytic and Container Management Platform (CMP) implementation and service performance across the organisation. The role provides exposure to procurement, project management, and end-to-end logistics operations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager / Senior Manager, Logistics is responsible for:
- Work with IT and ensure smooth implementation of the CMP (Container Management Platform)
- Lead change management relating to CMP implementation. Review and refine current processes, drive process harmonization globally to achieve efficiencies within the Ocean Procurement team.
- Manage Ocean Procurement activities globally when needs arise
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to drive cost savings and operational efficiencies across the organisation's ocean freight and logistics programme.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global freight forwarders, ocean carriers, port authorities, and other key logistics partners.
- Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements with carriers and third-party logistics providers to secure competitive rates and reliable service.
- Monitor global shipping trends, freight rate volatility, port congestion, and market developments to proactively manage risks and identify opportunities.
- Evaluate and select global and regional freight forwarders to ensure alignment with service, cost, compliance, and operational requirements
- The incumbent may be required to carry out other duties as directed by the immediate superior, provided that the responsibility level of such duties does not exceed those outlined above.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in logistics, preferably with exposure to global ocean freight operations.
- Knowledge of SAP Transportation Management System or similar tools would be ideal
- Strong knowledge of global containerised shipping and international logistics processes.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate proactively with vendors and internal stakeholders locally and globally.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks of varying complexity through effective planning and time management.
- Ability to work effectively across diverse business environments and local cultures.
- Willingness to travel, including to developing countries, as required.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
