The Nursing Director is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and overall management of nursing services across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Promotes and monitors adherence to professional nursing standards, scope of practice, ethical principles, and institutional policies.
- Maintain a professional image, by adhering to uniform and grooming policy.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior to foster trust among patients, families, physicians, and other health team members.
- Participates in relevant training programs, continuing education, and learning activities to enhance professional, technical, and professional competencies.
- Lead standardization of nursing practices aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Provide strategic direction for nursing services, policies, and programs aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.
- Lead the development and execution of nursing strategic and operational plans.
- Establish and uphold clinical governance frameworks, standards of care, and professional practice models.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to organizational decision-making.
- Disseminates clear and timely instructions, reminders, and updates on new or revised nursing policies through formal memoranda.
- Develops well-structured written reports and delivers clear, data-informed oral presentations to various leadership bodies.
- Facilitates scheduled meetings within the Nursing Service Group.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered nursing care across all units.
- Establish and monitor standards of practice, clinical protocols, and care pathways.
- Promote integration of evidence-based practice (EBP) and research into clinical care.
- Oversee initiatives to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and safety.
- Cultivates a Culture of Trust Within the Nursing Group through accountability and inclusive Decision-Making.
- Addresses complex or escalated concerns within departments and units by applying sound conflict resolution strategies.
- Reinforces a culture of professionalism and accountability by recognizing and encouraging positive behaviors.
- Oversees the updating of the Nursing Service Groups policy manual.
- Provides strategic leadership in the integration of health information systems.
- Identifies areas of risk and potential liability within the NSG through data analysis.
- Develops a Leadership Succession Plan for the Entire Nursing Service Group.
- Ensures compliance with CHED, institutional policies, and accreditation standards related to students clinical placements.
- Collaborates with Nursing Academic Programs to evaluate and enhance Clinical Competence of Graduating Clinicians.
- Encourages Active Participation of Managers and Staff in Research and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Initiatives.
- Allocates Nursing Resources Based on Patient Acuity and Care Needs.
- Regularly evaluates nurse-sensitive clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction metrics.
- Analyzes and Interprets Financial statements provided by the Finance Office.
- Monitors and guides departmental expenditures, resource allocation, and financial performance.
- Participates in the Monitoring of Vendor and Service Provider Contracts in the Nursing Service Group.
- Spearheads workforce planning by analyzing staffing needs and skill gaps.
- Reviews and assesses hiring practices, orientation programs, and employee retention initiatives.
- Interprets and disseminates regulatory guidelines from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
- Contributes nursing expertise to the formulation and execution of the hospital's emergency preparedness and response plans.
Qualifications
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of Masters Degree in Nursing or any related field - required.
- With Doctorate or PhD in Nursing units on any related field is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience - required.
- Preferably with at least five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
