The Nurse Supervisor oversees the daily nursing operations of assigned units and ensures that patient care is delivered safely, efficiently, and with consistent quality. The role provides direction, support, and oversight to the nursing team while maintaining adherence to hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Supervision
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of nurses and support staff in the assigned unit.
- Ensures proper staffing, balanced workload, and smooth shift operations.
- Regularly checks on patient care delivery and evaluates staff performance and adherence to standards.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Upholds hospital policies, nursing protocols, and regulatory requirements within the unit.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation, adherence to infection control policies, and consistent patient safety practices.
- Participates in quality reviews, audits, and unit-based improvement projects.
Staff Development and Training
- Provides coaching, guidance, and support to enhance the skills and competencies of nursing personnel.
- Assists in planning and conducting in-service trainings, orientations, and continuing education sessions.
Administrative and Operational Management
- Prepares duty schedules, evaluates staff performance, and submits required reports.
- Monitors and manages unit supplies, equipment availability, and maintenance concerns.
- Works collaboratively with other departments to support efficient hospital operations.
Patient and Family Relations
- Addresses concerns and inquiries of patients and their families with professionalism and compassion.
- Promotes a positive care experience and contributes to continuous improvement in service quality.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a valid PRC license
- At least 9 units of Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN)
- Minimum of 2 years experience in nursing service administration or supervisory role
- Strong leadership, critical-thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to manage unit workflow and respond effectively in high-pressure situations
- Relevant trainings/certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, etc.) are an advantage
