The NOC Manager is responsible for overseeing the Network Operations Center (NOC) and managing a team of NOC engineers. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of network infrastructure, monitoring system performance, and promptly addressing incidents and outages. The NOC Engineer Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining network reliability and ensuring the team adheres to best practices and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of NOC engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team culture to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
NOC Operations:
- Oversee the 24/7 operation of the Network Operations Center, ensuring continuous monitoring of network infrastructure.
- Coordinate with other IT teams to resolve incidents, outages, and service disruptions promptly.
Incident Management:
- Develop and implement incident response procedures to minimize downtime and impact on services.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Implement and maintain monitoring tools to track network performance, availability, and capacity.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, anticipate issues, and implement proactive measures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions for management review.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in network operations and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
- Stay current with industry best practices and technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the NOC operations.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the network.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology) or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in a NOC or network engineering role, with at least 5 years.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent are a plus.
