Network Engineer Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to support the design, deployment, configuration, and validation of network solutions across a complex infrastructure environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on networking experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and scalable network operations.
This role involves working with enterprise network infrastructure, equipment deployment, router configuration, operating system upgrades, and automated provisioning systems while ensuring adherence to client standards and operational success criteria.
Key Responsibilities Network Provisioning & Configuration
- Request, receive, and manage IP allocations for client-managed devices while ensuring compliance with IP management processes.
- Develop, review, and implement Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for network device configurations and operational changes.
- Configure and deploy network devices based on client-provided templates, standards, and design models.
- Perform configuration changes and operating system upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia network equipment.
- Support equipment deployment, cabinet builds, and router configurations for enterprise and VZW infrastructure environments.
Network Deployment & Validation
- Validate network connectivity and service availability for newly deployed devices.
- Ensure configured network equipment meets client-defined performance, security, and operational standards.
- Work with underlay and overlay controllers to create and manage network models and orchestrated deployments.
- Support migration, deployment, and cutover activities to ensure seamless network integration.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure engineers, and project stakeholders to deliver scalable network solutions.
- Coordinate with deployment and operations teams during implementation and migration activities.
- Create detailed MOPs and technical documentation for implementation teams, including nighttime deployment engineers.
Automation & Optimization
- Utilize automation tools and network provisioning platforms to streamline deployments and reduce operational risks.
- Identify opportunities to improve network efficiency, reliability, and operational processes through automation and optimization initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, TCP/IP, subnetting, and network security.
- Hands-on experience with network engineering, router/switch configuration, and network deployment activities.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia networking equipment is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with SDN technologies, network controllers, and automated provisioning systems is an advantage.
- Strong documentation skills with experience creating MOPs and configuration templates.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
