Job Description

Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) is the largest business-led non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Philippines, established in 1970 to lead the private sector's efforts in poverty reduction. Founded by 50 business leaders, it encourages companies to fulfill their corporate social responsibility (CSR) by pooling resources and expertise to support sustainable development.

ROLE SUMMARY

The IT Network Administrator/Data Protection Officer will manage and maintain Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) network infrastructure while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Administration

  • Design, implement, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal network availability and reliability.
  • Manage network security measures, such as intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and VPNs, to safeguard sensitive data and systems.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with other technology systems.

Data Protection

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all data protection and privacy-related matters within the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular data protection assessments and audits to identify potential risks and compliance gaps.
  • Monitor and analyze data processing activities, ensuring proper data handling and privacy measures are in place.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to staff members on data protection regulations and best practices.

Incident Response and Compliance

  • Develop and maintain an incident response plan for data breaches and security incidents, ensuring swift and effective resolution.
  • Investigate and document data breaches or privacy incidents, and report them to relevant authorities as required by law.
  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to ensure the organization's adherence to data protection regulations.

Technical Support and Documentation

  • Support end-users and IT teams on network-related issues, troubleshooting network connectivity, performance, and security problems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network architecture, configurations, and data protection activities.
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisor and/or management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or relevant field. Additional certification in Microsoft, Cisco, or similar technologies is a plus.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of working experience as a Data Protection Officer or similar role

Skills:

  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, firewall management, and wireless technologies.
  • Familiarity with data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and their practical implementation.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and incident response.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
