Job Description

Work Arrangement / Work Shift: Fully Remote / Full-Time | New Zealand Time

Role Overview:

We are looking for a remote NetSuite Senior Functional Consultant and Developer to lead NetSuite engagements end-to-end, from discovery and solution design through configuration, customization, integration and go-live. You will be the technical conscience on Finance and Operations workstreams, with a particular emphasis on Warehouse Management, Inventory and Supply Chain modules.

This is not a pure functional role, and it is not a pure developer role. For example, you will run client workshops in the morning, write a SuiteScript in the afternoon, and design a REST integration to a handheld scanner the following day. The right person enjoys that variety.

What You'll Be Doing:

Functional Consulting and Solution Design

  • You will lead discovery sessions with finance, operations and warehouse stakeholders, translate process pain points into NetSuite solutions, and produce the artefacts that make implementations succeed, current and future-state process maps, configuration workbooks, functional specifications, test scripts and training material.
  • You will own solution decisions across the General Ledger, AP, AR, Banking, Fixed Assets, Procurement, Order Management, Inventory and Warehouse Management modules, and you will be comfortable defending those decisions in front of CFOs and operations managers.

Configuration and Customisation

  • You will configure NetSuite environments to meet client requirements, including chart of accounts design, subsidiary and multi-entity setup, item and inventory structures, locations and bins, costing methods, approval workflows, saved searches, dashboards and KPIs. Where standard functionality stops, you will extend it, SuiteScript 2.x (User Event, Client, Scheduled, Map/Reduce, Suitelet, RESTlet), SuiteFlow, SuiteAnalytics, SuiteBuilder and Advanced PDF/HTML templates are all in scope.

Warehouse Management and Inventory

  • A meaningful share of our delivery work involves warehouse and inventory transformation for distribution and manufacturing clients. You will design and deliver inbound receiving, put away, transfer, replenishment, pick-pack-ship and cycle counting processes — including mobile and handheld scanner workflows (Honeywell, Zebra and similar).
  • You will be comfortable with bin management, lot and serial tracking, demand planning, reorder points, multi-location inventory and the working - capital metrics that matter (stock turn, dead stock, days inventory outstanding, cash-to-cash cycle).

Integration and Development

  • You will design and build integrations between NetSuite and surrounding systems, CRM, eCommerce, EDI, banking, freight, WMS hardware and bespoke applications.
  • Expect to work with REST and SOAP web services, SuiteTalk, OAuth 2.0, middleware platforms and increasingly with MCP-style architectures connecting NetSuite to AI agents.

Managed Services and Continuous Improvement

  • For our managed services clients you will run a portfolio of small enhancements, monthly health checks, release readiness assessments and incident triage. You will know when to fix something quickly and when to push back and propose a redesign.

Client Management and Delivery

  • You will own delivery on your engagements, scope, timeline, quality and client satisfaction. You will write clear status reports, escalate early, and present at steering committees with confidence.

What You Will Need:

  • 2-5 years of hands-on NetSuite experience across at least two full-cycle implementations as a lead consultant or developer
  • Deep functional knowledge of NetSuite Finance (GL, AP, AR, Banking, Multi Currency, Multi-Subsidiary, Fixed Assets) and Operations (Procurement, Order Management, Inventory, Warehouse Management)
  • Strong SuiteScript 2.x development skills across the full script type range, plus SuiteFlow, SuiteAnalytics and SuiteBuilder
  • Demonstrable experience integrating NetSuite with third-party systems via REST, SOAP, SuiteTalk and OAuth
  • Solid grasp of accounting fundamentals, you can hold your own in a conversation with a Financial Controller
  • Experience designing warehouse and inventory processes for distribution, manufacturing or construction-supply businesses
  • Excellent written communication, you can produce a functional specification, a configuration workbook and an executive status update without help
  • Strong stakeholder management and the temperament to consult, not just deliver tickets

What Will Set You Apart:

  • NetSuite certifications (Administrator, SuiteFoundation, ERP Consultant, SuiteCloud Developer)
  • Industry experience in construction, financial services or distribution
  • Familiarity with AI / automation tooling — IBM Watsonx Orchestrate, agentic workflows, MCP server architectures, LLM-assisted development
  • Experience working across NZ and Australian entities (GST, BAS, payroll boundaries, multi-jurisdiction reporting)
