Job Description

Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing core accounting operations and supporting the CFO and team in managing the financial health of the organization. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across day-to-day accounting functions, including supervision, payroll, reporting, and process improvements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Supervise and support the Staff Accountant.
  • Prepare and manage payroll and commission calculations.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure adherence to proper accounting procedures and alignment with financial objectives.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end financial audit and the annual corporate financial controls audit.
  • Monitor and analyze financial accounting data.
  • Create financial reports based on data analysis.
  • Evaluate current practices and procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a supervisory role.
  • Prior experience in a professional services firm (required).
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing and commission tracking.
  • Skilled in managing accounts payable and performing bank reconciliations.
  • Proficient in preparing journal entries, account analysis, and financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of intercompany transactions and consolidated financial statements.
  • Comfortable working with NetSuite and OpenAir (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality.

Working Hours

  • 9am to 5pm EST
  • Working Equipment required
