Job Title: MySQL Database Administrator (MySQL DBA)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and support mission-critical MySQL database environments. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in MySQL Clusters, InnoDB Cluster, MySQL Router, Group Replication, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), Performance Tuning, and Automation. The role involves ensuring database availability, reliability, scalability, and security across enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL Server environments.
- Manage MySQL 5.7/8.0 databases in production, staging, and development environments.
- Perform database capacity planning and storage management.
- Implement database standards, policies, and procedures.
MySQL Cluster & High Availability
- Design, implement, and support MySQL InnoDB Cluster environments.
- Configure and manage MySQL Group Replication.
- Administer MySQL Router for application connectivity and failover.
- Configure multi-node database clusters for high availability.
- Monitor cluster health and troubleshoot replication issues.
- Perform failover testing and disaster recovery drills.
Replication Management
- Configure and maintain:
- Asynchronous Replication
- Semi-Synchronous Replication
- Group Replication
- Multi-Source Replication
- Resolve replication lag and consistency issues.
- Monitor replica performance and synchronization.
Performance Tuning
- Analyze slow query logs and optimize SQL queries.
- Create and maintain indexes for performance improvements.
- Tune MySQL configuration parameters:
- Buffer Pool
- Redo Log
- Binary Logs
- Query Cache (legacy)
- Temp Tables
- Conduct database health checks and performance assessments.
Backup and Recovery
- Implement backup strategies using:
- MySQL Enterprise Backup

- Perform point-in-time recovery (PITR).
- Validate backup and recovery procedures periodically.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting
- Monitor database performance using:
- MySQL Enterprise Monitor
- PMM (Percona Monitoring and Management)
- Grafana

- Zabbix
- Nagios
- Troubleshoot database outages and performance bottlenecks.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents.
Security and Compliance
- Manage database users, roles, and privileges.
- Implement SSL/TLS encryption.
- Configure auditing and security controls.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies.
Automation and DevOps
- Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell/Python/Bash.
- Support CI/CD deployments involving database changes.
- Collaborate with cloud and DevOps teams.
