We are looking for a mud crab feed specialist consultant to support Aquahub Philippines in developing and implementing an effective, reliable, and economically viable feeding strategy for Scylla serrata crab nursery and grow-out operations in pond culture.

Description of services:

Feed and feeding assessment. Review current feeds, practices, and performance. Assess how feeding affects survival, growth, moulting, cannibalism, FCR, water quality, and cost. 

Feed strategy. Define specific strategies for nursery 1, nursery 2, juveniles, and grow-out, including feed type, size, ration, frequency and adjustment methods. 

Supplier identification and due diligence. Identify and assess manufacturers locally and internationally. Check reputation, quality systems, consistency, reliability, specs, and supply capacity. Recommend primary and backup suppliers. 

Technical interface. Liaise with suppliers on composition, nutrient profiles, pellet characteristics, stability, attractants, storage and shelf life. Request documented performance data and flag anything that cannot be independently verified. 

Commercial negotiations. Support price and volume discussions, trial quantities, MOQs, payment and delivery terms, and explore long-term agreements and custom formulations. 

Formulation and specs. Review and refine nutritional specs and work with manufacturers on optimization. Feed trials, design controlled farm trials, set protocols, analyze results, and recommend next steps. 

Performance monitoring and analysis. Track survival, growth, FCR, moulting, cannibalism, size distribution, biomass, and feed cost per crab. SOPs, develop simple farm-level feeding and monitoring procedures. 

Training: build in-house capacity so the team can continue monitoring and optimization independently. 

Deliverables: assessment report, supplier due diligence and shortlist, feed specs per stage, trial protocols and analyses, SLPs, supplier comparison including cost, and a final implementation roadmap.
