About the Role

The UP Project Management Office is seeking a qualified Senior Engineering Assistant – MPFS Design Reviewer to oversee, evaluate, and verify Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Sanitary (MPFS) engineering designs for university infrastructure projects. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering plans, calculations, and specifications comply with Philippine national building codes, environmental regulations, and University Design Standards prior to project execution.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical Document Review

• Review detailed MPFS plans, layouts, equipment schedules, piping diagrams, riser diagrams, technical specifications, reports, and BIM models.
• Evaluate engineering calculations across all four disciplines, including cooling load, ventilation, hydraulic, water demand, pump sizing, pipe/duct sizing, and fire protection hydraulics.
• Assess mechanical systems: HVAC, ventilation/exhaust, chilled water, mechanical piping, refrigeration, smoke management, elevators/escalators, and auxiliary mechanical installations.
• Assess plumbing & sanitary systems: domestic water supply, sanitary sewers, storm drainage, rainwater harvesting, wastewater/sewage treatment facilities, plumbing fixtures, and pumping systems.
• Assess fire protection systems: automatic sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pumps, fire water storage, fire hose cabinets, fire department connections, kitchen suppression, and clean agent suppression systems.

Compliance & Standards Verification

• Verify system design assumptions and documents against approved project requirements.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant statutory codes and standards, including:
• Philippine Mechanical Engineering Code
• National Plumbing Code of the Philippines
• Fire Code of the Philippines
• National Building Code of the Philippines
• Philippine Green Building Code
• University Design Standards and local utility provider/environmental requirements

Quality Assurance & Discipline Coordination

• Evaluate systems for constructability, maintainability, operational efficiency, energy and water efficiency, safety, resilience, and sustainability.
• Coordinate MPFS technical interfaces with architectural, structural, civil, electrical, electronics, landscaping, and other related engineering disciplines.
• Review cross-disciplinary revision impacts to ensure consistency across all drawings, calculations, specifications, and BIM models.
• Perform quality reviews of consultant submissions, consolidate discipline-specific review comments, and verify the full resolution of comments prior to formal endorsement.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, or a related field.
• Licensure: Registered/Licensed Mechanical Engineer (RME) or Sanitary Engineer (RSE) strongly preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience in MPFS design, design review, or engineering oversight for medium- to large-scale facility/building construction projects.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Philippine mechanical, plumbing, fire, and green building codes. Proficiency in reviewing BIM models (Revit/Navisworks) and CAD drawings.
• Skills: Strong analytical ability, high attention to technical detail, and clear communication skills for multi-disciplinary coordination.
