Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Title Analyst to serve as a subject matter expert in resolving complex title issues within US mortgage and real estate transactions. This role goes beyond title examination—focusing on interpreting legal complexities, clearing title defects, and supporting underwriting decisions to ensure transactions can proceed to closing.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve complex title issues identified during title examination
- Conduct in-depth research on complicated ownership histories, legal claims, and encumbrances
- Interpret ambiguous or unusual legal documents, including:
- Court orders
- Probate and estate records
- Trust documents and liens
- Determine appropriate resolution strategies for title defects and curative requirements
- Prepare legal and corrective documents, such as:
- Affidavits
- Corrective deeds
- Release or satisfaction documents
- Provide expert guidance on title insurability and underwriting decisions
- Work closely with Title Examiners, Closers, and Underwriters to ensure issues are resolved prior to closing
- Communicate with attorneys, lenders, and other stakeholders to address complex title concerns
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes for all title issue resolutions
- Ensure compliance with US title insurance standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business, or a related field (preferred)
- 3–5+ years of experience in US title, escrow, or mortgage operations
- Strong background in title analysis, curative, or underwriting support
- Deep understanding of:
- Title insurance principles
- Property law concepts (liens, easements, ownership, probate, etc.)
- Experience handling complex or escalated title issues
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret legal documents
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
- Experience in a BPO or offshore US mortgage environment is an advantage
