The Mortgage Loan Processor (Pre-Qual Specialist) is responsible for reviewing, validating, and processing pre-qualification loan applications to support mortgage lending decisions. The role evaluates borrower information, verifies documentation, identifies potential risks, and ensures accuracy and compliance throughout the pre-qualification process.
Job Description
• Reviews and analyzes borrower credit profiles, credit reports, payment history, and debt obligations.
• Assesses borrower creditworthiness and supports preliminary lending decisions.
• Reviews submitted loan and identity documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Verifies borrower identity and validates supporting documents based on company procedures.
• Identifies mismatched, missing, or suspicious information during application review.
• Performs fraud detection reviews and escalates suspicious or high-risk applications appropriately.
• Conducts document authenticity checks and supports compliance-related validation activities.
• Reviews appraisal and valuation reports to verify property and collateral information.
• Compares market values and validates appraisal data to support lending decisions.
• Maintains accurate loan documentation, tracking records, and application status updates.
• Prioritizes multiple loan applications while meeting productivity and turnaround time expectations.
• Communicates professionally with borrowers, loan officers, auditors, and internal teams regarding loan documentation and status updates.
• Uses Microsoft Office and G-Suite applications to maintain records, reports, and workflow documentation.
• Supports additional mortgage processing and administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
• Demonstrates strong analytical and decision-making skills in reviewing loan-related information.
• Shows ability to assess borrower documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail in handling financial and identity-related records.
• Exhibits knowledge of fraud detection indicators and loan risk assessment practices.
• Demonstrates ability to manage multiple loan applications under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
• Exhibits professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive borrower information.
• Clear and coherent both written and verbal communication skills in English when coordinating with borrowers, loan officers, and internal teams.
Screening Criteria
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in mortgage processing, lending, banking, financial services, or loan pre-qualification support.
• Experience reviewing loan documents, borrower information, or credit-related records.
• Experience in Microsoft Office or G-Suite applications for documentation and reporting.
• Must have a stable employment history.
