Job Description

The Model Governance (MG) Officer is primarily responsible for the execution and implementation of the model risk governance across the stages of the model life cycle.

He/ She is responsible in ensuring that the Bank's model risk management framework, model inventory, and model governance processes comply with BSP regulations and internal policy, while overseeing model lifecycle management from a control and oversight perspective.

This role supports the growing reliance on advanced quantitative models within the financial industry, where model risk has emerged as a key concern. Increasing attention from regulators, senior management, and boards has highlighted the importance of effective model oversight. The position will assist the Head of the Model Risk Management Department in executing the Risk Management Office's strategies and objectives, as directed by the Division Head, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and the Board through the Risk Management Committee (RMCom).

Duties And Responsibilities

1.1. Policy and Framework Management – Assist in the formulation of policies, standards, and process guidelines consistent with the Bank's enterprise risk management framework, model risk management framework, and other risk policies to effectively manage model risk, given the Bank's strategies, level of tolerance and risk appetite.

1.2. Model Inventory Management Maintain the centralized model inventory, review of model registration details for completeness and accuracy, ensure that validation results, remediation actions, changes, and updates in the model risk ratings are reflected in the inventory.

1.3. Issue and Performance Monitoring Oversight – Coordinate periodic performance monitoring, ensure timely submission, and align with traffic-light standards. Track and report model issues, validation findings and remediation efforts.

1.4. Model Owner Engagement – Work with model owners, developers, and validators to ensure governance requirements are met and proper model lifecycle management is performed. Ensure that models are reviewed and updated on a periodic basis according to their risk tier and usage.

1.5. Regulatory and Coordination - Manage BSP queries, internal audit requests, and external reviews. Provide risk advisory to BPI Group's different risk teams as the need arises, to support business growth and risk management.

1.6. Ethical Standards and Professionalism - Ensure that the assigned activities are compliant with Company rules and regulations, regulatory requirements, and professional ethical standards.

1.7. Strategic Support - As delegated, perform all functions of the Model Validation Section Head in his/her absence. Perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Department Head, Division Head, CRO and the RMCom.

Qualifications

1 yearPrior school or research work and/or experience related to predictive behavioral modelling, programming and/or statistical studies, particularly on credit and market risk

XBachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Information Technology

Preferably with graduate units in MS Finance/Computational Finance/Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
