Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Millwork Architect to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and maintaining high-quality millwork shop drawings using AutoCAD (2D/3D)and/or Cabinet Vision. You will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, purchasing, and production teams to ensure all drawings accurately reflect project requirements, are fully constructible, and support efficient manufacturing and installation.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of commercial millwork, architectural drawings, and industry standards, along with excellent technical drafting skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, revise, and maintain detailed millwork shop drawings using AutoCAD (2D/3D) and/or Cabinet Vision.
  • Analyze project plans, architectural drawings, interior design drawings, specifications, and schedules to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Lead assigned projects from initial drafting through final drawing approval, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Review shop drawings throughout all project phases, including initial submissions, redline revisions, field measurements, RFIs, ASIs, addenda, and final documentation.
  • Interpret architectural construction documents, finish schedules, and specification manuals.
  • Research and develop new millwork designs, products, and architectural features as required.
  • Review, edit, and quality-check shop drawings received from outsourced drafting partners prior to client submission.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to incorporate field measurements and project updates into shop drawings.
  • Monitor project scope changes, construction issues, and design modifications, ensuring documentation remains current.
  • Maintain accurate and organized drawing files, ensuring the latest versions are accessible to project teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Purchasing, and Production teams to meet project schedules and quality standards.
  • Provide regular progress updates on assigned projects to the Engineering Manager.
  • Participate in internal project meetings, handoff meetings, conference calls, and project coordination discussions.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external communications regarding project-related questions and updates.
  • When using Cabinet Vision, develop material schedules, create 3D models, generate purchasing reports, and support manufacturing requirements.
  • Promote engineering best practices to maintain drawing consistency and department standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in commercial millwork drafting, architectural drafting, or construction-related CAD design.
  • Experience creating millwork shop drawings using AutoCAD (2D/3D) and/or Cabinet Vision.
  • Strong understanding of commercial millwork, architectural woodwork, cabinetry, or casework.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, construction documents, specifications, and finish schedules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of Division 6 – Architectural Woodwork.
  • Familiarity with Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standards.
  • Experience with commercial casework and custom millwork manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of purchasing documentation, material schedules, and production workflows.
