Job Description

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or Biology
  • Hands-on laboratory experience- Knowledge of food safety systems such as HACCP
  • No Experience or At least 2 years of work experience as a Microbiologist
  • Registered Microbiologist is preferred
  • Relevant experience in microbiology, preferably in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological concepts, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocoAbility to analyze data, interpret results, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Precision and accuracy in conducting experiments and documenting results.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and quality control standards.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities in microbiological research.

Job Description

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research to study the growth, structure, and behavior of microorganisms. This may involve analyzing samples of bacteria, viruses, and other microbes.
  • Laboratory Work: Perform various laboratory techniques and experiments, such as culturing microorganisms, DNA sequencing, and microscopy.
  • Testing and Identification: Isolate and identify microorganisms to determine their role in various processes, including disease, food production, and environmental impact.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that products in industries like pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics meet quality and safety standards by conducting microbial testing and quality control procedures.
  • Clinical Microbiology: In clinical settings, microbiologists may work to identify and diagnose infectious diseases and recommend appropriate treatment options.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret data from experiments, making conclusions and recommendations based on research findings.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of experiments, procedures, and results. Prepare reports and present findings to colleagues and superiors.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and ensure the proper functioning of instruments.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to safety protocols, ethical guidelines, and regulatory standards in microbiological research and testing.
