Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Merchant Acquisition Specialist to expand and strengthen UPlay's merchant ecosystem. The candidate will be responsible for identifying, acquiring and managing strategic merchant partnerships that enhance UPlay's value proposition and member experience.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to source compelling deals across lifestyle categories. The ideal candidate will work closely with merchants from prospecting through onboarding, while ensuring a robust pipeline of high-quality offers that drive customer engagement and business growth.

1) Merchant/Partner Acquisition:

. Identify, prospect, and acquire new merchant partners / brands that are relevant and popular with the targeted market segments.

. Negotiate commercially attractive deals, promotions, and exclusive member benefits that deliver strong value to customers.

. Build and maintain strong relationships with merchant partners to drive long-termcollaboration, renewals and upselling opportunities.

. Manage the end-to-end merchant onboarding process, including partnership discussions, contract execution, content collection, and platform listing.

. Monitor merchant performance and customer feedback to optimise offerings and improve customer satisfaction.

. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, partnership opportunities, and category gaps

. Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to support campaign launches and maximise merchant visibility on the platform.

2) Content Management:

. Ensure accurate, up-to-date and engaging merchant content is published on the UPlay platform

. Curate and maintain a diverse portfolio of product offerings to enhance platform attractiveness.

3) Market Analysis and Performance Optimisation:

. Conduct regular market and competitor analysis to ensure UPlay's offerings remain relevant and competitively positioned.

. Monitor industry and emerging trends and consumer preferences for merchant acquisition.

. Track and analyze platform, merchant and campaign performance data to identify growth opportunities and optimise sourcing initiatives.


4) Merchant& Strategic Partnership Development:

. Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with key merchants and industry partners to expand UPlay's offerings.

. Explore opportunities for strategic collaborations, including system integrations and partnership models that enable scalability.


5) Invoice and Payment Administration:

. Co-ordinate with merchants and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely invoice and payment processing.

. Monitor outstanding payments and proactively resolve billing discrepancies to ensure smooth financial operations.

6) Stakeholder Management & Other Responsibilities:

. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align expectations, requirements and deliverables.

. Support cross-functional initiatives and undertake additional duties as assigned to achieve business and organisational objectives.

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Business / E-commerce or a related discipline.
  • Experience in merchant acquisition, partnership management, business development, procurement, account management or a related function
  • Proven ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships, with strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to work comfortably across digital platforms and systems.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, marketplace operations, merchant onboarding processes, and digital commerce ecosystems will be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and driven to achieve acquisition and partnership growth targets.
