Merchandiser

About the Role

Spinneys Philippines is looking for a Merchandiser – Grocery & Produce to support the day-to-day operations of our supermarket departments. The role is responsible for ensuring that grocery and fresh produce sections are well-stocked, properly displayed, organized, and maintained according to Spinneys standards.

The ideal candidate has experience in supermarket, grocery, retail, or fresh produce operations and understands proper product handling, replenishment, and merchandising practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure grocery and produce products are properly displayed, arranged, and replenished on the sales floor.
• Maintain proper product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) and appropriate handling practices.
• Check product quality, freshness, packaging, labels, and expiry dates.
• Replenish stocks promptly to maintain product availability and an organized sales floor.
• Follow established merchandising guidelines, planograms, and product placement standards.
• Assist in receiving, checking, sorting, and organizing grocery and fresh produce deliveries.
• Handle fresh produce carefully to maintain quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Monitor stock levels and report low-stock, damaged, expired, or defective products to the Supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and proper sanitation of assigned areas.
• Ensure price tags, promotional materials, and product information are properly displayed.
• Assist customers with product inquiries and provide courteous customer service.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other departments regarding replenishment and stock requirements.
• Support inventory counts and stock-taking activities when required.
• Follow company policies on food safety, workplace safety, and proper product handling.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Department Supervisor or Store Management.

Qualifications

• At least Senior High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Merchandiser, Grocery Staff, Produce Staff, Stock Clerk, or Retail Associate is an advantage.
• Experience in a supermarket, grocery store, fresh produce section, or retail environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic merchandising, stock rotation, and product handling.
• For Produce: basic knowledge of fresh fruits and vegetables, quality checking, and proper handling is an advantage.
• Physically fit and comfortable with standing, walking, lifting, and moving products as required.
• Customer-service oriented with good communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to maintain organized product displays.
• Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays.
