Role Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with Quantity Surveying / Estimating experience in MEPF works. The role will cover the full project lifecycle, from tender review, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, BOQs and tender analysis through to procurement, project cost control, technical coordination, progress billing, variations and final account.
The candidate will also provide technical input and advice on electrical and MEPF design matters, review drawings and specifications, identify design gaps or coordination issues, assist with value engineering, and support the project team in ensuring that MEPF works are properly coordinated, commercially controlled and aligned with project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets and bills of quantities for MEPF works in fit-out and construction projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs, rate analysis and build-ups for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, auxiliary and related services.
- Review tender drawings, specifications, schedules and scope documents to identify cost requirements, exclusions, risks and clarifications.
- Prepare supplier and subcontractor RFQs, evaluate quotations and assist in commercial negotiations.
- Support procurement and tendering of MEPF subcontract works, including comparison sheets and recommendation reports.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, suppliers and subcontractors regarding MEPF cost and scope matters.
- Monitor MEPF project costs and assist in ensuring expenditures remain within the approved budget.
- Evaluate subcontractor progress claims, variation claims and supporting documents.
- Prepare, review and manage MEPF subcontract packages, ensuring alignment with project scope, specifications and commercial terms.
- Prepare cost reports, cash flow forecasts, variation summaries and commercial updates for the project team.
- Maintain accurate records of MEPF cost documentation, quotations, correspondence, claims and contract documents.
- Assist in final account preparation, cost reconciliation and project close-out.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related construction field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in quantity surveying and/or estimating for MEPF works, preferably with a main contractor or fit-out contractor.
- Strong understanding of MEPF systems, construction methods, local market rates and subcontractor pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret MEPF drawings, specifications, BOQs and technical documents.
- Good understanding of tendering, procurement, variations, progress billing and final account procedures.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, coordination and communication skills.
- Electrical design experience is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office particularly Excel, MS Project and preferably PlanSwift, Bluebeam, AutoCAD or similar take-off software.
- Detail-oriented, organised and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
