Work Setup: 100% Onsite

Location: Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City

Work Schedule: Night Shift (Following Eastern U.S Time Zone - With the possibility of working a day shift after training)

Salary Package: 80,000 PHP to 150,000 PHP/Monthly

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coder with specialized expertise in Inpatient Surgery coding to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG/APR-DRG assignment, and compliance standards. This role requires experience with complex inpatient cases, including trauma, transplants, cardiology, and surgical specialties, while ensuring accurate coding and optimal reimbursement. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with providers and CDI teams are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical procedures and diagnoses.
  • Perform DRG and APR-DRG assignment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
  • Review complex inpatient clinical documentation to validate coding accuracy, identify insufficiencies, and query providers as necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians, CDI, and revenue cycle teams to ensure complete documentation supporting code assignment.
  • Conduct quality reviews, audits, and provide feedback to improve coding standards and revenue optimization.
  • Maintain productivity and accuracy benchmarks in line with organizational standards.
  • Stay current with regulatory updates, payer requirements, and evolving coding guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Certification(s): CCS, CIC, CPC, COC, RHIA, or other AAPC/AHIMA-recognized credentials.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of inpatient coding experience with a strong emphasis on surgical cases.
  • Extensive experience coding for multiple surgical specialties including Orthopedics, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Transplants, Trauma, and General Surgery.
  • Demonstrated expertise in DRG/APC auditing, CDI collaboration, and hospital coding compliance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Epic
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to support accurate inpatient surgical coding.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with proven ability to handle complex inpatient cases.

Preferred Background

  • Experience coding for level 1 trauma centers, teaching hospitals, or large academic medical centers.
  • Prior experience with DRG/APR-DRG audits, clinical documentation improvement, and provider education.
  • Background in coding leadership, mentoring, or quality assurance roles.
