The Medical Billing & Collections Specialist plays a strategic role in strengthening the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring accurate claims processing, faster reimbursements, and effective denial resolution that directly impact financial performance and patient care continuity. Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in US healthcare medical billing, claims follow-up, collections, denial management, or accounts receivable processes
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and healthcare billing compliance standards
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Familiarity with medical billing terminology, insurance claims, EOBs, and reimbursement workflows
  • Experience using medical billing software and EHR systems
  • Experience handling insurance payer follow-ups and resolving claims issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team

Preferred

  • Certification in Medical Billing and Collections is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid processes
  • A degree in a medical or healthcare-related field is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform EOB scanning and daily claims data entry for office visits and injections
  • Review billing data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company and healthcare regulations
  • Validate and maintain patient billing information accuracy
  • Track, monitor, and follow up on insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement
  • Check payer portals and confirm claim acceptance and processing status
  • Conduct follow-up calls with insurance payers until payment resolution
  • Review and analyze payer denials and prepare appeals based on payer guidelines
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing and reimbursement issues
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Provide support for billing-related inquiries and assigned accounts
  • Stay updated on healthcare regulations, coding changes, and billing best practices
  • Participate in required meetings and team activities
