About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Billing Specialist with dedicated Accounts Receivable (AR) experience to join our team and support an oncology practice. This role focuses on oncology infusion billing, including drug billing (J-Codes) , claims processing, prior authorizations, and denial management.
The ideal candidate has experience in oncology or specialty clinic billing, strong knowledge of infusion billing workflows, and the ability to manage end-to-end revenue cycle operations. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance with payer policies and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end claims processing and billing submission for oncology infusion services.
- Handle drug billing using J-Codes and ensure accurate coding and documentation.
- Process prior authorizations (PA) and insurance verification for treatments and medications.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing issues efficiently.
- Manage denials and appeals to maximize reimbursement.
- Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and aging reports to ensure timely collections.
- Apply knowledge of payer policies, reimbursement rules, and denial management.
- Coordinate with insurance providers and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records in EHR/EMR and billing systems.
- Stay updated on oncology infusion billing guidelines and payer requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Dedicated Accounts Receivable (AR) experience – MUST HAVE.
- Experience in medical billing, preferably in oncology or specialty clinics.
- Strong knowledge of infusion billing and drug billing (J-Codes) .
- Familiarity with oncology infusion billing workflows and guidelines.
- Experience handling prior authorizations (PA) and insurance verification.
- Ability to manage end-to-end claims processing and billing submission.
- Knowledge of payer policies, reimbursement rules, and denial management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
- Experience working with EHR/EMR and billing systems.
- Ability to follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing issues efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with insurance providers and internal teams.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional home office setup.
Preferred (but not required):
- Background in specialty pharmacy or infusion center billing.
- Familiarity with CMS guidelines and Medicare/Medicaid billing.
- Experience with clearinghouses and payer portals.
