Job Title: Medical Biller (US Interventional Radiology Practice)
Compensation: Competitive USD salary depending on experience and interview outcome
Schedule: EST (TBA)
Company: HighCall Virtual Assistant (HCVA)
Department: Client Services
Work Setup: Remote
Position Overview
We are actively seeking a dedicated, self-sufficient, and professional Medical Biller to manage the end-to-end medical billing lifecycle for our Interventional Radiology client in the US. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle manageable-volume but highly detailed billing cycles, encompassing everything from initial patient insurance verification to post-payment accounts receivable management.
Core Responsibilities
Pre-Visit, Verification & Patient Coordination:
- Insurance Verification: Proactively verify patient benefits, coverage details, and in-network/out-of-network status prior to appointments.
- Pre-Certifications: Handle and follow up on pre-certs for specialized procedures and tests (e.g., MRIs), which may require weeks of tracking.
- Estimates & Payment Plans: Provide patients with accurate cost estimates and establish payment plans before procedures take place.
Claims Processing & End-to-End Billing:
- Filing of Claims: Accurately prepare, process, and file claims across various insurance portals following in-office visits or procedures.
- Status Updates: Regularly check and update the status of submitted claims to ensure timely processing.
- Workflow Management: Independently manage the complete billing cycle, adapting to natural on-season and off-season fluctuations.
Post-Payment & Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Payment Management: Accurately post and manage payments received from insurance companies and patients.
- Denial Management: Investigate denied or canceled claims to determine the root cause (e.g., missing medical records) and draft prompt, effective appeals.
- Accounts Receivables: Conduct rigorous, ongoing monthly follow-ups on outstanding AR to minimize balances. Dispatch monthly statements and payment reminders to ensure consistent revenue collection.
Reporting & Administration:
- Data Tracking & Reporting: Generate consistent reports detailing reimbursement rates, Patient Visit Dates (PVDates), and claim statuses for executive review.
- Workspace Management: Maintain real-time accuracy on company tracking sheets using designated project management tools.
Tools & Software Proficiency
Billing & Management Software:
- Tebra
- Availity
- Monday (for tracking/reporting),
- 8x8 (for communication)
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):
- Direct Experience: At least 2 to 3 years of experience as a full-cycle Medical Biller specifically for a US Healthcare Practice.
- Insurance Portal Proficiency: Proven ability to successfully and efficiently file claims directly across a variety of Insurance Portals (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, UHC, Aetna), including navigating their unique interfaces, forms, and questionnaires.
- Tech Stack Familiarity: Prior, hands-on experience using Tebra, Availity, and Monday, minimizing the training time needed for system navigation.
- Specialized Pre-Certifications: Experience securing pre-certifications for complex or specialized procedures (such as MRIs) that require long-term tracking and follow-up.
- Appeals Expertise: A strong, proven track record of successfully investigating, appealing, and overturning denied claims.
- Autonomous Work History: Previous experience thriving in a manageable-volume, high-detail environment where you owned the end-to-end billing cycle independently without requiring micro-management.
