Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our growing dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of dermatology billing, insurance claim processing, and revenue cycle management. This role requires the ability to accurately manage a high volume of claims while ensuring timely reimbursement and compliance with payer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Submit, review, and manage medical claims for dermatology services in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process and follow up on 60+ claims per day to ensure prompt reimbursement.
  • Review claims for coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission.
  • Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, underpayments, and unpaid claims.
  • Utilize insurance portals such as Availity, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna to verify eligibility, check claim status, obtain authorizations, and submit appeals.
  • Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts as necessary.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers to resolve billing discrepancies and expedite claim resolution.
  • Maintain accurate patient billing records within the practice management system.
  • Collaborate with providers, coders, and administrative staff to resolve documentation and coding-related issues.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and contribute to maintaining healthy revenue cycle performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably within a dermatology practice.
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and dermatology-specific billing guidelines.
  • Hands-on experience using ModMed (Modernizing Medicine).
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume claim submissions efficiently and accurately.
  • Experience working with insurance portals, including Availity, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna.
  • Strong experience handling insurance denials, appeals, and reimbursement follow-up.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or equivalent billing certification.
  • Experience in a fast-paced specialty medical practice.
  • Knowledge of dermatology procedures, treatments, and coding nuances.
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle management best practices and payer-specific requirements.
