Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing orthopedic, sports medicine, and physical therapy practice. The ideal candidate will provide both clinical and administrative support to physicians and rehabilitation specialists, ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care.

This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and patient scheduling systems.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Assist physicians and clinical providers during orthopedic, sports medicine, and physical therapy examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms by ensuring all medical instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly sterilized, stocked, and ready for use.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information accurately.
  • Assist with patient preparation before procedures and provide support during treatments as needed.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care, rehabilitation protocols, medication instructions, and follow-up appointments.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.

Administrative Support

  • Accurately document patient encounters and update medical records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while coordinating provider calendars.
  • Answer incoming calls, manage patient inquiries, and route communications using RingCentral or similar phone systems.
  • Assist with patient intake, registration, insurance verification, and other front-office functions when needed.
  • Coordinate referrals, imaging appointments, therapy services, and follow-up visits.
  • Support providers and clinical staff with daily administrative tasks to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Clinic Operations

  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked examination and treatment rooms.
  • Monitor and replenish medical supplies and notify management of inventory needs.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive, patient-centered environment by providing exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, physical therapists, nurses, and administrative staff to optimize patient care and workflow.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in an orthopedic, sports medicine, physical therapy, or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience assisting with orthopedic procedures and musculoskeletal patient care preferred.
  • Proficiency using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Experience with scheduling and communication platforms such as RingCentral or similar telephone systems.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical office best practices.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in outpatient orthopedic or sports medicine practices.
  • Familiarity with physical therapy workflows and rehabilitation protocols.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to orthopedics and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Experience coordinating referrals, imaging, and follow-up care.
